A brief, no-obligation phone conversation to talk about what you're looking for and see whether working together feels right for you.
Sessions are around 50 minutes and usually take place weekly at a time we agree together.
Our first session is an opportunity to get to know each other and begin exploring what has brought you to counselling. You don't need to prepare anything or tell me everything straight away. We can take things at a pace that feels manageable for you.
There isn't a single answer to this because everyone's circumstances are different.
Some people find that a shorter period of counselling (typically 6 to 12 sessions) gives them the space they need to work through a specific difficulty or life challenge. Others find that open-ended, longer-term counselling allows more time to explore their experiences and patterns in greater depth.
We can regularly review our work together and talk about what feels helpful, so that our work continues to meet your needs.
Counselling offers a private space where you can talk openly and feel heard without judgement. I work in line with the ethical framework and professional standards of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
There are some limits to confidentiality, particularly where there are serious concerns about someone’s safety or wellbeing. These will be explained clearly in our initial agreement, so you know what to expect and can ask any questions you may have.
If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, I ask for at least 48 hours' notice.
As your appointment time is reserved for you, sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice, or missed without notice, will be charged at the full session rate. I completely understand that unexpected emergencies happen, and I will always aim to be as fair and flexible as possible.
